On-demand / VOD #
Your on-demand library is everything fans can watch after the live whistle: match replays, highlights, interviews, and any video you upload yourself. This guide covers how content gets into the library, how to organise it so fans can find it, and how to decide who gets to watch.
VODEvery live stream you run is saved as an on-demand replay automatically, so your library grows on its own as you broadcast. You only need to upload video by hand for content that was never streamed live.
How live streams become replays #
When you end a live broadcast, the recording is prepared and added to your on-demand library using the settings you chose when you set the stream up. Fans who missed the match can then watch it back. There is nothing extra to do: the replay keeps the same title, thumbnail, and access settings as the live stream, and you can edit any of those later if you want to.
Uploading video #
For content that was not broadcast live, such as a pre-edited highlights reel or a sponsor video, you upload the file directly.
- ●
Open On-demand and start an upload
From the dashboard, go to On-demand and select Upload.
- ●
Choose your file
Select the video file from your computer. You can pick more than one to upload several at once. Large files are sent in the background, so you can carry on working in the dashboard while they go up.
- ●
Wait for processing
Once the file finishes uploading, it is prepared for playback across different devices and connection speeds. This takes a few minutes for short clips and longer for full-length video.
- ●
Add the details and publish
Give the video a title and description, choose a thumbnail, set the category and access, then select Publish to make it visible to fans.
Video details #
These are the settings you fill in for each piece of content, whether it started life as a live stream or an upload.
Title text required What fans see in listings and search. Keep it clear and specific, for example "First Team vs City, full match" rather than just "Match".
Description text A short summary shown on the video page. Useful for adding context such as the competition, the date, or what happened.
Thumbnail image The still image fans see before they press play. You can pick from images taken automatically from the video, or upload your own. A sharp, well-chosen thumbnail makes a big difference to how many fans click.
Category choice required The main classification for the video, such as Highlights, Interviews, or Training. Every video has exactly one category.
Tags multi-choice Optional labels that help fans filter, for example "Home Game" or "Cup Run". A video can have several tags.
Teams and leagues link Connect the video to the teams or competition it features, so it appears on the right pages for fans following them.
Access choice required Whether fans watch for free, pay once, or need a subscription. See the next section.
Organising your library #
A tidy library is one fans can actually navigate. There are four ways to group content, and they work together.
Categories The single, required classification for each video. Think of these as the broad shelves of your library: Highlights, Interviews, Training, and so on.
Tags Flexible labels you can apply freely to help fans filter. A video can carry as many tags as make sense.
Playlists Hand-picked collections of videos in an order you choose, such as "Season 2024/25" or "Best Goals". A playlist can pull together videos from different categories.
Collections Groups of playlists, useful for a higher level of organisation, for example a "League Coverage" collection that holds a playlist per competition.
You can apply these to several videos at once. Select multiple items in your library, then change their category, add tags, or add them to a playlist in one go, which is handy after a busy weekend of fixtures.
Controlling who can watch #
Each video has its own access setting, so you can give some content away to attract fans and keep your best content for paying supporters.
| Access type | Who can watch | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Anyone, no payment needed | Trailers, highlights, promotional clips |
| Pay-per-view | Fans who pay once for that video | One-off events, premium matches |
| Subscription | Fans with an active subscription plan | Your regular catalogue of replays and extras |
You can also control visibility separately from access. Hiding a video removes it from listings without deleting it, which is useful while you finish preparing the details or if you need to pull something temporarily.
Editing and removing content #
Open any video from your library to change its details at any time. Updates to the title, description, thumbnail, category, tags, or access take effect straight away.
How do I take a video down without deleting it?
Hide it. Hiding removes the video from your listings and search but keeps it in your library, so you can bring it back later by making it visible again.
What happens when I delete a video?
Deleting removes the video permanently. It disappears for fans and cannot be recovered, so only delete content you are sure you no longer need.
A replay is missing from the library
Check the unpublished or hidden filter first, as it may simply not be published yet. If it was a live stream, confirm the broadcast was ended properly so the recording could be saved.
