Matchday Live Docs

Subscriptions & billing #

Your subscription is what unlocks live matches and on-demand video on your club's channel. This page explains how plans work, how to change them, how to keep your payment details up to date, and what happens when you cancel or renew.

Everything here lives under Account in the app and on the web. Your billing details and your saved cards are managed separately, so updating one never disturbs the other.

How subscriptions work #

When you subscribe, you pick a plan and pay for it up front. That gives you access to the content your club has included with that plan. Recurring plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period so your access never lapses, and you can change or cancel at any time.

You can also buy access to a single event without committing to a recurring plan. This is useful when you only want to watch one specific match.

Choosing a plan #

Most clubs offer a few different plans so you can pick what suits how often you watch.

PlanHow you payBest for
MonthlyRenews every monthFollowing your club through the season
AnnualRenews once a year, usually at a savingYear-round supporters who want the best price
Match PassOne-off payment, no renewalWatching a single match or event

The exact plans, prices, and what each one includes are set by your club, so what you see on your club's channel may differ from the examples above. Set by your club

Changing your plan #

You can move between plans whenever you like. When you upgrade or downgrade, the difference in price is worked out for you automatically so you only pay for what you use.

  1. Open your subscription

Go to Account and select Subscription. You will see your current plan, its price, and your next renewal date.

  2. Choose a new plan

Select Change plan and pick the plan you want to switch to.

  3. Confirm

Review the change and confirm. Any difference in price for the rest of your billing period is applied automatically, and your new plan takes effect right away.

Adding or updating a payment method #

Your saved cards live in their own section so you can manage them in one place, whether they are used for a subscription or a one-off purchase.

The Payment Methods screen showing a saved card with its expiry date.
Your saved cards appear under Account > Payment Methods, each showing the card type and expiry date.
  1. Go to Payment Methods

Open Account and select Payment Methods. If you have not added a billing address yet, you will be asked to complete it first, since one billing address applies to all of your cards.

  2. Add a card

Select Add Payment Method and enter your card details in the secure form. Press Enter or select Save to store it on your account.

  3. Keep cards current

If a card is about to expire, add the new one before the old one runs out. A card that has expired is clearly marked so you know to replace it.

What you can see for each card #

Card type and last four digits display

Identifies the card at a glance, for example a Visa ending in 4242.

Expiry date display

When the card runs out. Expired cards are flagged and cannot be used for new payments.

In use display

Shows which subscriptions or purchases currently rely on this card.

Viewing receipts and invoices #

Every payment you make is recorded so you always have a record.

To find your history, go to Account and select Billing History. There you can see each past payment, check whether it went through, and download an invoice as a PDF for your own records.

What happens at renewal #

Recurring plans renew automatically so your viewing is never interrupted. Just before each renewal you can expect:

  • A payment taken from your default card for the next billing period.
  • A confirmation that the payment succeeded.

If a renewal payment does not go through, perhaps because a card has expired, you will be told straight away and given a chance to fix it.

My renewal payment failed. What now?

There is no need to worry, your account is not closed immediately. You will get a notice explaining what happened, and you will have a short grace period (typically 7 days) to update your card and try again. Once a working card is in place, the payment retries and your subscription carries on as normal. Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment, which is a normal security step.

Cancelling your subscription #

You can cancel a recurring plan whenever you want, with no need to call anyone.

  1. Open your subscription

Go to Account and select Subscription.

  2. Cancel

Select Cancel Subscription and confirm. You may be asked why you are leaving, which helps your club improve.
