What is Matchday Live? #
Matchday Live is a streaming platform built for sports clubs. It gives a club its own branded home where fans can watch live matches as they happen and catch up on highlights, full replays, interviews, and behind-the-scenes video whenever they like.
There are two sides to the platform, and this documentation is organised around them:
- Fans watch sport on the web and in the mobile apps.
- Club admins run their club's channel from the admin dashboard, scheduling streams, publishing video, and managing subscriptions.

A branded home for every club #
Every club on Matchday Live gets its own branded experience for its fans, with its own colours, badge, and content library. When fans visit a club's portal or open the app, they see that club's matches and videos, not anyone else's. A fan's subscription and account belong to the club whose content they came to watch.
For a club, this means you are not just uploading videos to a shared site. You are running your own streaming service, with full control over what fans can watch and how they pay for it.
Live vs on-demand #
Matchday Live handles two kinds of viewing, and they work together.
Live
A live stream is broadcast in real time, the same way a match is happening on the pitch. Fans tune in while the action is on. Live streams can include matches, press conferences, and club events.
On-demand
On-demand video, sometimes called VOD, is content fans can play back whenever they want. Highlights, full-match replays, interviews, and archive footage all live here.
The two are closely linked. After a live stream finishes, it is automatically saved as an on-demand replay, so fans who missed the live broadcast can still watch it later. A club decides how that replay behaves, who can see it and whether it is free or paid, before the stream even goes live. Status: Live then on-demand
How the two sides relate #
A club admin creates and schedules content in the dashboard. Fans discover and watch that content in the app or on the web. Subscriptions and one-off purchases connect them. The club decides which content needs a paid plan, and fans choose a plan that unlocks it. When a fan subscribes, the club earns the revenue.
You do not need to understand the technical side to get started. Choose your path:
